This the book I was gifted to review for the event

READ YOUR WORLD!

A deeply touching story written by Zoi Fragou ( in Greek) and illustrated by Emmanuela Kakavia , Ocelotos editions! 2015

This is an original version of a modern world round with heroes from different countries, such as Popi from Greece, Melit from Syria, Charlie from Australia and Kim from China.

The writer, through the adventure of these little friends, seeks and succeeds in teaching us the value of solidarity and offering to our fellow man, which is a great demand of our time.

It gives us a reason to think about who we are, where we go, what we live in, and why the path of humanity is the only one worth walking. The virtues of this new work by Mrs. Fragou refer not only to its content but also to its form, since the narrative is accompanied by a rich and impressive illustration, capable of enraging not only the children to which it is principally addressed, but and older people.

The 'World Tour with a Couple of Shoes' is a story, with strong messages of humanity and solidarity. It teaches us that every human being can be in a difficult position at all times and that although we all are different at the same time, we are all the same because we have common laws of bidding love. Finally can a pair of shoes turn around the world? It can also teach us that only the path of humanity can and is worth walking! Beautiful, true, lustrous text gives rise to constructive discussions!

It is not a classic fairytale, with dragons and princesses, but certainly true, authentic real, that through its experiential presentation fulfills the true demand of a good book, which is reflection, thought, discussion and experience!

HOW THE BOOK IS PRESENTED..

After a warm discussion with the author of the book, according to her, the main purpose of a book presentation is to cultivate the empathy to the children specially, the constructive reflection through the reading, playing, drawing and painting book's icons , making fantasy stories , let the children enter to a new wonderful world !! It's a great also pleasant opportunity for children to learn geography!

Multicultural Children's Book Day 2020 (1/31/20) is in its 7th year! This non-profit children's literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.

Seven years in, MCBD's mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids' books that celebrate diversity in homes and school bookshelves continues.
